On June 14 and 15, 2024, the Factanza Awards were celebrated, the award ceremony dedicated to the best communicators, creators, and media outlets that are changing the world of information. The event was conceived and organized by Factanza, the media company with the motto "Information that creates (in)dependence."
The Factanza Awards were created to highlight expressions of journalism, science communication, and content creation in written, audio, or video form that have particularly stood out for the quality of their message, transparency, reliability, and effectiveness. The event was designed to respect the environment and minimize the environmental impact of the materials used, electricity consumption, and other resources. Eat Your Habitat was selected as the Food & Beverage catering partner for its ability to create a positive environmental impact and offer a sustainable catering service, protecting the balance of natural habitats.
The decision to use a catering service like ours allowed the use of locally harvested invasive wild ingredients to combat their spread and the resulting imbalance of native biodiversity, thus helping to reduce the event's ecological footprint. The use of compostable or reusable materials for tableware and utensils also contributed to reducing waste and minimizing excess.
In addition to invasive wild ingredients, we used fresh, high-quality raw materials to prepare the dishes served at the event, creating healthy and flavorful recipes. This not only contributed to the well-being of participants but also demonstrated that, by using resources from the environment that disrupt ecosystems, it is still possible to prepare innovative and delicious dishes.
For the type of offering and menu composition, the request was to create something surprising and intriguing, yet healthy and balanced.
Considering that the average age of the event participants was quite young, we decided to present an entire menu playing with the concept of next-generation Junk Food, using shapes and colors to make it appear at first glance like a typical fair or amusement park meal. The menu included a Wild Vegan Hot Dog, a Fake Ice Cream made from wild herb balls and a rosehip and beetroot mousse.
To complete the offering, we served some extraordinary spruce jellies, fresh and refreshing, which rounded off the menu by leaving our guests with an unusual citrusy and pleasantly bitter taste, scented with alpine forest aromas.
